The purpose of the project was to build the HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial) network which uses both copper (coaxial cables) and fiber optic technology. The network in Suwalki consists of a fiber optic bus, which is a backbone of the network, and internal networks in buildings made of coaxial cables. Over 20 000 flats across town were connected to the network. During the execution of the contract FONBUD built a headend for CTV, which operates dozens of television and radio channels. Thanks to the investment the residents of Suwalki gained access to broadband Internet, TVK cable TV and VoIP telephone services.
