JETTING/ SPLICING FIBER OPTIC CABLES
FONBUD carries out air assisted fiber optic cable installations into teletechnic microducts. Using equipment with appropriate parameters: air compressors and fiber optic blowing machines, allows us to blow cables in long sections.
Cable jetting as opposed to pulling the wire manually reduces the risk of damage to the fibers. Single sections of fiber optic cables are connected together with a splice. However before that the cables have to be properly prepared: they need to be cut, cleaned and aligned. After splicing two sections, the fiber is put into a protective coating and then placed in a joint.
Both before and after splicing we test the cables to make sure they are not damaged and connected properly whilst transmitting the appropriate amount of light.
